The Sioux word for buffalo is Tatanka, said almost in reverence. These hunters and their horses were fearless in acquiring the buffalo for their needs. The horses were trained to ride close to the buffalo and to be ready to avoid it`s change in direction or it`s horns. The horse was guided only by it`s experience and the leg pressure of the rider.
